  • Pulled out this lone straggler from my cellar, assuming that it would be completely over the hill. Dark straw colored, the cork pretty well soaked through and breaking, and 23 years old -- none of it boded well. Nevertheless, there is some tart apple freshness, as well the taste and smell of balanced oak shining through all that butterscotch. All of this seems to speak to cool climate fruit and brilliant winemaking. Actually quite enjoyable. I can't imagine there is any rush to open, having demonstrated its ability to live this long (though it would have been better to consume it 10 years ago).

  • California Pinots: Old and Young (Philadelphia): The wine we had was the sparkling wine Cuvee Blanche. I'll ask Dave to fill in the correct name for this bottle. I found grapefruit and a nutty quality here. This was nice.
