0.375 L bottle, late Feb 2020: purple red color; opulent nose with aromas of red and black currant, blackberry and cherries, over time coffee-like flavors added in; open and lush on the palate; in the beginning with some acid, later getting more mellow; medium-full body.
Excellent mature 1998 Dauzac. At least in half bottle recommended to drink now or in the next 1-2 years.
At the same time a 1999 Dauzac was tasted that was more closed and showed a tannic backbone (see tasting note).

After two decades the wine is still keeping a deep violet color with light browning at the edges. Moderate bouquet of cherry fruit, cassis, graphite and cigar box. Cherry fruit quickly fades off the tongue to reveal herbs, tobacco, coffee and leather. Some unresolved tannic acidity dries it out though. Wish it had more finesse.

Two bottles. Inseparable. Plump, Margaux, fruit. Lovely lift. Not much to add. The flavours tannins andacidity we’re integrated. The first that I’ve tried from this case. Looking forward to some more. 90- 92 but the pleasure on the night won out on my score.

Last bottle of a wine that has nicely evolved over the years, overcoming the usual 1998 acidity in the final phase. A classical Bordeaux bouquet of charming ripe berries, tobacco, cigarbox and sweetness in the finish. Drink now.

This is starting to take longer to coax out than previous bottles. Firm and mineral. But the fruit shows through and it rounds out showing its former self. In a Good spot after 90+ mins in the decanter. We, particularly C, have been drinking this wine for over 15 years. Now on to our third case.
