  • This is an attempt to make an Argentine-style everyday Malbec in Cahors. It isn't my style, but my guests liked it ! Anyway, in Cahors these days there are four kinds of Malbec being made: many great traditional wines; a few great new ones made in a more structured, aromatic style; some tasty, savory fresh ones for immediate drinking; and some made in the New World style, like this one, with extraction, a bit more sweetness, often with obvious oak. All four styles can work well, but I find this particular wine to not be a compelling example of that fourth category. No flaws, just lacking personality, and since this isn't my preferred style I would not buy more. Good QPR.

  • Nose of violets and very ripe black plums and blackberries. Dense and chewy, this is loaded with modern, internationally-styled sweet black fruits and relatively polished, if abundant tannin. 90

Note: Trying another bottle 7-26-2023: This is dense and pure, but the tannins are just too abundant for me to love this. Stand with the 90 point score, but I won't be buying as an everyday wine. Perhaps after a few years...
