Opened by Mark. This was a big wine with a reddish purple color. Heavy bodied with firm tannins. I would give this more time but at nearly 17% alcohol I'm not sure if this will ever evolve to my liking. Notes of cassis, charred oak and crushed grape skins. 89-90+ points.

Rich garnet red. Subtle aromas of currant, lead pencil and blackberry. The palate echoes the currant aromas while adding violet, candied fruit and black cherry flavors. Medium finish. The wine is more flavorful than aromatic at this point but comes across as exceptionally well balanced. Overall, better than expected.

Washington State Blind Vineyard Tasting - Champoux vs. Ciel du Cheval (Copper Kettle Kitchen, 2nd Ave, UES, NYC): I had this directly alongside a 2007 Januik Cabernet Chamoux. Unfortunately the 2005 Ciel du Cheval suffered in comparison. Maybe it was the vintage difference? It was very good, but I just can't put it in the 90 point territory. It has a syrup-y mouth feel to it.
