  • Winery visits Jan 2023; 1/13/2023-1/27/2023 (Vic, Tas): {screwcap, 14%, A$58} Herbs, roses, cherry, nutmeg aromas. Polished, herby and floral on the palate with medium/high acid, medium dusty tannins, medium weight and a medium long finish. Soft but authentic expression of the grape. A taste from barrel of the 2022 was still raw enough that the tannins dominated the extra fruit.

  • Light garnet in the glass. Ok, so we have Nebbiolo in the glass. But does this smell like Nebbiolo - no. Does it taste like Nebbiolo - hell no? I don't want to say that this is typical for Australia, but the grape variety here has been butchered into something that has nothing to do with Nebbiolo. Extraction is big, turning the character into "fruity" rather "savoury". Tannins are almost non-existent, but hey, at least there is some nice fresh acidity. The wine doesn't develop over the course of the night - chilled or not. Sad emojis, was looking forward to this delivering.
