  • An evening of Matteo Corregia wines (E&R Wines, Portland OR): Where the La Val de Preti leaned into refinement and elegance, this pushes more for something more strong. There is a brawny quality to the nose that is enticing with dark red cherries, fresh picked berries, roasted herbs, red currants, spice notes, earth tones, violets, and raspberries. The Full bodied feel shows off the brawniness of the nose while also possessing excellent depth and balance along with tart, high acidity and chewy, high tannins. The structure is still clearly youthful, but it shows off great complexity even now. I would love to see where this goes with 5+ years of aging. There is a ton to like right now, but it clearly hasn't hit it's top speed yet.
