Opened at Table by Bruno Verjus. P&P and enjoyed slowly.
First experience with the 2020, and was very interested to see how this performed against the 2019, which has quickly become one of my favourite young DRCs.
This isn't quite as ready out of the bottle as the 2019: give this some air, and you will be rewarded. There is also an interesting hint of green in this wine - perhaps coming from the stems(?) - that I feel like still needs some time to fully integrate. The spectrum of fruit and the classic 'DRC nose' needed some time to come out properly, but when it did, this performed really well.
I think there's clear upside to this wine, and it has the chance to creep up a point or two. Would be keen to revisit this in 3+ years, and heres to hoping that I have the chance! Thanks to B for having me as always, what a pleasure.

A private dinner with friends (Café Parlotte, Amsterdam, NL): Bottle No. 01762/8.142 bottles produced, 13.5% ABV. Excellent tension between fresh acidity, chalky minerality and red and blue fruit (sour cherries, plums, cassis), Asian spices, great energy from the stems but no greenness, very youthful but its profile is already discernible, long and tight finish with a hint of austerity. Very structural at the moment, needs time to relax and expand. Revisit 2030? Score based on potential.

Nose and palette needed time to breathe. This clearly had plenty of years to age, but beautiful today
Immediately the whole clusters are clear, there is an evident spiciness throughout the experience. Nothing hot but lot of vosnee spice basket present, I’d venture more of a white vs black pepper style. The spiciness is well balanced with dark, rich fruit, more on the currant or blackberry variety but the fruit is clearly second to the spice and overall velvet nature of the tannins.
The finish lingers nicely for a long while with the whole experience being present.
Lovely wine. This had the balance and structure to age gracefully for many years and is not near its best.
As a comparative, the use of whole clusters here are providing some of the spice but not the vegetal and green notes that are present in some other wines (young Roumier Les Cras comes to mind), which can elicit more green and stem. This is more integrated and complete at this stage

Ye Paulee (Hao Noodle): 00783/8142. Super polished red fruit, sexy pure spice, rose petal voluminous and structured with decent length. Getting better and better every vintage. 94+

Served s a surprise aperitif, this is intense stuff. A sound core of ripe fruit, al most creamy, much too yong, but the chalky, cool exteriour makes it a jy nevertheless. Had I a bottle, I would leave 10+ years. #Scheelsminde#DRC
