  • Still brick-red colour, black cherries and only a hint vanilla-oak in the nose, on the palate dense but still fresh and again cherrie-fruit, some wood, smooth tannins, a hint sweetness, good balance, similar to a good new world pinot...
Will hold at least for 1-2 more years

  • A difficult, outsized Pinot to comprehend--overtly fragrant, rich, but hampered by the sensation of 14% alc/vol in the finish.

  • Ditto Medo's note: this, for the price, has great stuffing in all the right places. If you can come to terms with the fact these German Pinots won't have nearly the tannic backbone that Burgundy exhibits, then you'll have no problem enjoying this or any other true-blue, well-crafted German Pinot. This wine delivers generous vanillin and rich florality from the use of med-toast new oak, from which the palate discerns what little, fine-grained tannin there is. The rest is just pure, delicious cherry and raspberry and clove. I like this a lot, and for the money, this is unbeatable. Cheaper than the K-Rumpf 'M' and marginally better at the moment.

  • Markus Schneider is one of the innovativ winemakers in the Pfalz Region and just released his first (and the first German as well) Port-styled wine. This is his "traditional" styled Spätburgunder "M":

Very nice and fresh nose with beautiful cherry flavors, mixed up with some dark chocolate dust, cloves and hints of raspberries. Love the nose! Noticable acidity in the mouth, a bit green and unripe in this status, really young, but with good potential in a few years when everything fits together. Give this baby at least another years or two. 88 pts right now (the nose is lovely!), but with a big ++ for further development!
