Not a bad Gewurzt. Golden yellow in the glass with an intensely floral bouquet of muskmelon. Some sweetness (residual sugar?), nutty, jasmine palate. Still young! Paired well with watermelon at the end of a BBQ.

Honeysuckle and apricot on the nose. Ripe Honeydew and Cantaloupe followed by vanilla and a very pleasant floral finish. As noted previously, a bit sweeter than expected. Very nice integrated wine. Served with aged hard cheeses.

Spectacular Alsatian gewurtz, although at 14% Abv the residual sugar came as a little bit of a surprise, this is softly sweet like a German Riesling kabiinett, and just gorgeously balanced. These were ripe grapes from the hill where almonds grow way up north/
It took a few hours for the wine to fully open; drink at 55F. The expected rose petal and lychee aromas sing, what sets this apart is baked marzipan and roasted melon and citrus, particularly mandarin peels coming off as caramelized. The palate is honeyed and rich, super ripe orange melon with more cooked citrus peel and toasted baking spices. Should be good for many years, but might not improve all that much from here it’s about perfect.

very similar to last note. A bit of too much sweetness for my preference.

This would be great with a fruit tart featuring pears or other floral fruit.
