  • Second Sunday Group: Aged Alsatian Riesling Vendange Tardive (Neil's): Double blind. Similar to wine F with a waxy white Rhone quality, along with apple and dried stone fruit. Dry on the palate, with apple and petrol qualities. Medium+ finish. Very nice, but lacks the complexity and richness of some of the others in the line up. 91-92 pts.

    My #5, Domino's #7
    Group #7, 79 pts

  • Dinner at Bistro Sofia with Steve & Barb. Medium gold in the glass, this had lovely floral aromatics as expected. Good acidity provided a nice sweet/sour balance. Long finish. While I don't think it will ever reach the glorious heights of the '71, I do think this will continue to develop well for a number of additional years. Survived the waiter's tarte tatin antics of turning the bottle upside down before popping the cork fairly well, and gave us something to laugh at after the shock wore off. 50+13+12+8.5+8.5 = 92

  • Dinner with Mom at Blossom in Charleston. Medium gold in color and very aromatic. Goldert-typical flowers mix with honey and acacia in this medium bodied wine. Off-dry with a very powerful palate and a medium length finish. Should continue to develop for the next decade. 50+13+12+8+8= 91.
