Portuguese white wine from Monção and Melgaço: Alvarinho. 12,5 % alcohol. Fermented and aged, on lees, in stainless steel tanks.
Consumed over two days.
Pale grayish/golden color.
Fresh and delicate aromas of ripe pear, lemon, vanilla, white flowers and minerals. Powerful and fresh flavors of minerals, lime fruit, grapefruit and unripe green apples.
Dry. Medium body. Fresh acidity. Okay balance. Good structure. No complexity.
Short finish with grapefruit.
Day one: A refreshing white wine with a lot of minerality and citrus. Works good both in and with food. 84/100
Day two: Riper and more floral. Better with food (salmon) than on its own. Refreshing and pure. Quite okay. 86/100

This is a very nice Abarino from Portugal, the nose shows classic lime and honey mellon, on the palete there is high fresh acitity with citrus, grapefruit, lime, honey mellon, peach fruit, minerality and a sea salt finish. Pairs well with any kind of seafood, particularly white fish.

A private lunch with a friend (Restaurant The Devonshire, London, UK): Ripe fruit (with a tropical edge) and salinity, supple and rounded, soft but fresh, clear and bright, good length.

Lovely ripe apricot and lime fruits which gives the wine weight and body. Still one of the best Alavarhino’s from Portugal.
