Beautiful and detailed 1990 notes of tea, black cherries, spices, minerals, dark red fruits, and savory notes. Great acidity provides an energetic backbone. Some tannins still linger, but they just add texture. Great poise. This was the wine of the night for me. A 2009 Leroy Boudots tasted side by side was an infant compared to this wine. Thank you Gary.

Showed a bit of funk and oxidation at first but that blew off after an hour and what was left was a wine of great purity with intense black cherry fruit and a lacy texture that gives way to a very complex and even crunchy finish with notes of licorice, minerals and incredibly complex spices. A tremendous showing and drinking at peak now. At Blue Hill Stone Barns courtesy of Larry Klane.

Forest floor aromatics, not totally clean. Palate is fuzzy.

Label looks deceptively like Leroy. Taste does not.
