  • An amazing Costco find... this is an excellent wine! Tasted immediately after pouring into the decanter.... bold, grippy, strongly tannic.... dark fruit, strong leather, floral, spice on the nose.... almost wild! the taste is almost a feeling. After 2 hours and lingering in the glass, this wine really sang to us... last drop was incredible... mellow but still grippy, but in a most pleasant way. I am no Barolo expert, but I know I will buy this again. Really enjoyed it and left us wanting more!

  • The Gianfranco Bovia Barolo 2019 is a captivating expression that seamlessly melds beauty and balance, delivering an effortlessly enjoyable experience. With a 92-point rating in mind, this Barolo shines as a testament to meticulous winemaking. Following a generous two-hour decant, it unveils its charms with finesse.

Pouring a delicate garnet, this Barolo defies expectations with its very light body, a departure from the traditionally robust nature of this varietal. The nose is a harmonious blend of red fruits, floral notes, and a subtle earthiness, creating an inviting bouquet. On the palate, the wine exhibits a refined balance, with red cherry and raspberry flavors taking the spotlight. The tannins are gentle, contributing to the overall elegance.

This Gianfranco Bovia Barolo ventures into a somewhat new world style, marked by its approachable nature and easy-drinking character. However, its unmistakable roots in old-world craftsmanship bring depth and complexity to the forefront. While deviating from the traditional Barolo weight, it manages to retain a sense of authenticity that speaks to the heritage of the region. For those who appreciate a Barolo with a lighter touch yet rooted in tradition, this offering from Gianfranco Bovia is a delightful discovery.
