Harlan + Friends Intro Retro (Whitehead's, Northbrook, IL): A lighter translucent ruby. Initially there is a lot of earthy/dusty funk on the nose. Blows off to reveal dried red fruit, cigar box and bell pepper. Palate is nice and more mellow with still sweet red fruit, herby/leafy complexity and some spice. None of the components (fruit, acid, tannin) are particularly high energy or prominent. Nice but my guess this is past peak and on a downslope. My #5, Group #6.

Much better than the last bottle. Lots of acid still so this will go a long time. This bottle tasted like a 20+ year old bordeaux. It was smooth and silky. Lots of wet forrest floor, red fruit, wet cedar on the nose and through out the tasting. Lighter in body.

This bottle was undrinkable from the time we opened it to the 4 hours of air. This had an overwhelming dusty, wet forest floor, and just an overall massive musty finish. This was undrinkable by all. Must be a bad bottle.

Medium bodied appearance, mature color, with low viscosity. Nose of cold metal, menthol, plums and cedar. With air the wine gained weight and muscle and became more solid. I believe that this wine is just on the other side of peak, but still a fantastic display of what was once a very successful wine from the 2000 vintage. Still has grip and dryness...will keep for another 3 to 5 years but I doubt of improvement. This is one of those times when I thoroughly enjoy as much as I can now, but throw 2 bottles in the back of the cellar as a science project for the future. Beautiful label...

Not much going here. Thin, flabby, with muted flavors. Nose was ok with flowers, earth, red fruit, a little funk. It had the body of an old bordeaux with out the flavor. Not impressive what so ever.
