  • Just a baby but already quite expressive with lime, green apple, lavender, and a sharp, flinty finish. Delicious now but will age effortlessly.

  • I’m not sure what to think. I opened this 2 days ago and it was undrinkable: muted with a funky grape cider kind of taste. Now this is showing better on the nose - with classic lime and rock candy and some minerality. Some sponti cumin. There is still a slighly beery or blue cheesy aroma hiding in the background. The palate is crisp and light. Nice lime and tangerine with some honeysuckle and minerals. Finish is a little bony and bitter but has some nice lime but shows a bit of the beer at the end. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5/20.

  • Coravin. Lemon yellow; aromatic, herbal, curry leaf, sassafrass, citrus oil; palate is medium bodied, medium to medium-plus acidity, low 8% alcohol, off dry (kabinett), lemon-lime; finish is medium length. Very nice, and the herbal quality seems more unique among the Falkenstein lineup and perhaps more a quality of this bottling? 93

  • Coravin. Pale lemon-green, almost lacking color entirely; high intensity aromatics, ethereal nose with some limestone, white flowers, some slate, lemon; palate is medium bodied, barely off-dry (kabinett), low alcohol (8%), medium-plus acidity, some of the same slate and minerality as on the nose, not quite as much fruit at this age; finish is medium length. Nicely balanced, but the nose is a real standout and is unique across the Falkenstein range for me. My first time with this cuvee and it's definitely worth buying, even if the palate isn't quite as complex as some of the other botttlings. 93 (nose alone would be 95+).
After drinking this a bit more, I think the uniqueness on the nose is some herbal, almost sassafras? I've only ever gotten sassafras from Merkelbach, but that's what it reminds me of.
