  • Lieu-dit Cru Richebourg Dinner (Primehouse - Chicago IL): Audouzed 3 ½ hours before poured. Honestly, this bottle was the main reason we organized this dinner. This was the first time I have ever had a Jayer Richebourg, and would say this was the most confusing and controversial wine of the night. I found the aromatics to be entrancing and engaging. They were powerful and intense. But I found the palate to be much less forthcoming - more acid and tannin than fruit or elegance. I think this wine improved nicely over the next 3 hours. Alas, I have no more bottles of this wine; but if I did, I wouldn’t open it for another decade+. Others found this wine completely exciting, putting in a tie for the group's 4th place WOTN. For me, it was middle of the pack; yes, Jayer Richebourg was middle of the pack, albeit in an amazing pack.

  • Lieux-dits-Cru Richebourg Dinner (Primehouse): Pale garnet color with some lightenting at the edges. Bright clean floral nose with a hint of red cherry. Mmmmn, incredible big rich secondary floral rose palate with plenty of both red and black cherry remaining. Some tannins and structure remain despite the color and it certainly has good acidity (and was therefore good with the food). One of the top five wines of a great lineup for me - really lovely, but certainly not one of the top values.
