  • Light colour, cherry nose, chocolate, leather, a bit muted. Bitter tannins that overpower the fruit on the palate. May benefit from more air.

Edit - Revisited the next day and notable improvement. Clearly this just needs more air than day 1. More fruit, subdued tannins, reduced bitterness. Up to 87.

  • PnP, and ready to go, though it probably would have shown even better (I can say this now, after the fact) had I aerated for 30-60 minutes. One of my consistent favorites from within the San Donato in Poggio subzone, this year's iteration is the same as most: red fruited, bright, fresh, transparent, with all the textbook aromas and flavors; understated beauty. If I had better access to these wines in FL, I'd make this a case buy, for sure. Organically farmed, medium-bodied, and always an excellent partner to food. 14,0% abv.; drink now and the next 5-6 years for optimum enjoyment. Really solid value, as always. recommended+
