  • Tech G's Birthday Bash (Reno, NV): Fun being the only note on a wine... haha. Very very deeply colored wine... aromatically this thing is insane... huge huge mineral aromas, loads of dark fruits... like purple flinstone vitamins... very reduced wine. On the palate the wine has high acidity, a full midpalate, insanely firm tannins that have hardly any polymerization that are quite dominant on the palate, low to moderate alcohol. Tough call on balance... the tannins are intense, good length, great intensity, good complexity. Finesseful wine despite the firmness, great texture, expression of place so so... don't know where i would place this blind though i know it wouldn't be anjou. This wine is of a very particular style... it is firmly in the 'natural' camp so it has no polish to it, however, the underlying material is grand and the wine is awesome. Not a crowd pleaser in the least, the tannins will outlive the fruit, but give this 5-10 years and see what it becomes! Best cab franc from anjou i've ever had. Decant and serve with food!

  • Shipped 8 cases of wine to HK during our move. Opened this to see how the lot survived. Success. Just like the last one. Brambly, earthy depth and bright kinetic acidity. And the dust too. And if anyone is interested, this sat in the fridge with the cork in it for 6 days. When I finally got back to it and let it come back to room temp, it was beautiful.

  • Dusty, earthy nose of seductive plum fruit. On the palate, it's a rich, electric and velvety wine, with a still sharp tannic bite. It's one of those wines that defies individual descriptors. But it's beautiful in all its oneness. With $25 Cab like this from the Loire, who needs Napa? I only wish this was a little less impossible to find.

  • At first it seemed like ti would be a weird Angeli bottle, but after a bit of time and being decanted, it started to show well. Still firmly tannic, with a bit of green tobacco and herbs around a core of dark red fruits. I liked the textural bite of the structure and found it too be a good match for my food. I'm not sure where this wine is going, but it could be an interesting ride. Worth experimenting on a few bottles, IMO. This wine makes me think of Jeff Connell for some reason. Where art thou, oh wise man?
