Not subtle but a gorgeous sweet sherry. Sweet, but not overly so. All the PX characteristics. Rich with complex fruit, spice, and full of chocolate and coffee flavours - reminiscent of ‘Creme de Cacao’ liqueur. Much too drinkable (and great value). It went down very well at a group wine tasting.

Super stuff. Very viscous and sweet and full of dates, raisins, toffee, vanilla, coffee, chocolate. As good as many PX examples at higher cost. This bottle was opened to provide a comparison with an Avignonese Vin Santo at over 40 times the price per unit volume and it acquitted itself very well indeed. Long in the mouth and remarkable value in this format from Sainsbury's in UK. Sherry is so undervalued generally but this is wonderful if you like a really characterful 'sweetie'.

Drank at Home I think Sainsbury's really have done a great job with this. Not too sweet with lots of complexity and that lovely Christmas cake finish you expect from PX. Will definitely get some more.

Deep, dark brown in the glass, with a green-yellow rim. Thick like treacle. Nose of dates and brandy. Dates overwhelm the palate, and there's a flash of liquorice on a fairly lengthy finish. It is very good, though powerful; best kept to a thimbleful.

Thick, sweet and very typical. As good as many older PX. Lots of dates and raisins and a refined finish that has an interesting savoury note.
