This is the first NZ SB that I recall having that is from the North Island rather than Marlborough and surrounds. And frankly this is better than most for my palate.
On the nose there are strong, but not unpleasant, notes of gooseberry and herbs (I'd call it garrigue if this were French). The palate has the bite one would expect with those gooseberry notes, a touch of lemon with a slightly candied aspect; nicely balanced, with a crisp finish.
This bottle has been going very nicely with some sashimi and rice rolls.
Overall this is excellent QPR for the ~US$13 that I paid.

Great wine with good acid balance. Lasted OK to Day 3 but with significant broadening of style.
