  • Brought this to Tunglok Signatures for dinner with 2 very close friends from University.

A wine from the earlier days of my wine journey. Was fascinated by wines from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region and big fan of the producer, Brotte.

Dark purple in colour, not giving anything away in terms of its age and maturity. Decanted for almost 2 hours before serving. Aromatic and fragrant, the decanter was almost like a potpurri.

A very captivating nose, offering an intricate bouquet of dark berries, black cherries, and plums that are interwoven with hints of dried herbs and exotic spices. Layers of complexity emerge with each pour, revealing nuances of leather, cigar box, and a touch of vanilla.

On the palate, the wine is concentrated and focused, with a deep garnet hue, with velvety tannins and a luxurious texture that coats the mouth. Flavors of ripe blackberries and juicy raspberries take center stage, framed by a gentle undercurrent of black pepper and licorice, backed by notes of toasted oak, and cocoa. Chewy tannins with a nice, long finish.

Better than I remembered. Savouring this wine was like revisiting an old friend; little exchanges needed, yet the bonds and tie goes a long way. This is true for both the wine and the people I had dinner with.
