  • We were totally shocked by this wine. I have no idea how it wound up in our cellar. It was amazing for a dirt cheap wine (<$5). Very smooth and drinkable with lots of plum, blackberry, and dark cherry flavors. Not strong so we didn’t eat it with bold food. We drank it by itself, for which it was perfect. A little bit of oak and a little bit of smoke on the finish. No bad aftertaste at all, like you get from other $3 wines. Just a darn good every day wine to drink now.

  • This is a fantastic deal, certainly on par with import and domestic Merlot I have had in the $10 range. Good dark color with no obvious signs of mass production. Loam and blackberries on the nose lead to plums, blackberries and well concealed oak on the palate. Med- finish with balanced acid and tannin. This wine is fairly dry with rs typical of a malbec. This wine has quality fruit and poise you rarely find in a box. I think I paid 11$ for 4L. I believe this is from the 12' vintage, the bottling date is nov 13.

  • Garnet color w/ long legs. Slight sweet nose. Light swish and flavor. Somewhat bland. Smooth w/ slight bitter finish. O.K. w/ mild cheddar cheese.

  • For 3$ it is not terrible. And it's a 3$ Merlot at that. It's another Merlot on the lighter side that is pretty drinkable. Better slightly chilled than at room temp. There is light fruit on the palate and the finish is pretty mellow. Sort of bland- which I guess is not a bad thing for a merlot :) Nothing overly deep or that makes you need to come back to find all the nuances, but not terrible. Would pair more like a chianti than a traditional big Cab Merlot. Cannot imagine this would stand up to a steak or strong cheeses. Apparently the best one of the label- note to self- stay away from the Oak Leaf Chardonnay!
