  • Note: this is the first TN posted on this wine in 12 years! Deep garnet color. Very, very aromatic; silky dark cherry fruit on the palate, long finish. Not a typical syrah in that it doesn't offer any of the roadside/animal aspects most of us associate with syrah. In fact, probably because they didn't skimp on the oak, which has integrated, if I were poured this blind my first guess would have been a cabernet blend. Notably, though there's obvious bottle age in neither appearance nor flavor does it show as 20 years old, and it held up well over two hours. Excellent, impressive.

  • flawed. The nose never quite came around, VA was everywhere. The acids and fruits seemed to be at war with one another. 0/2 on this bottling.

  • Not too syrah like, no meaty or bacon notes. medium bodied. But not bad all together. Opened for 2 hours, no decant. Drink NOW.

Color: Dark red center, lighter maroon edges

Nose: A whiff of oak, red fruits, white pepper and some herbal sage aromas

Palate: Great acidity and chewy tannins. Austere red fruits and some spice mix to complete a nice wine.

  • Very distinctive nose of pepper, earth, dark fruits. Very dark red/purple color all the way to the edge. Nice mouthfeel, supple, quite viscous. Fruit on the outset in the mouth, midpalate and finish nice and peppery. The tannins suggest that this could go for several more years and develop even more. Very enjoyable wine.
