  • My contribution to dinner with the CDV713 members.

I felt this wine would be the perfect one off for a group assembled. So unique and fun to share. I love the evolution in the glass.

Damn I wish I had bought more.....

  • One of the more compelling youthful whites that I've tried. This was a TheBottleList.com offering at $25.00 and I'm kicking myself for not buying more. I've copied the write up below.

Raul does some cool small batches and experimental lots. This Anfora Godello is fermented and aged in clay amphora for 18 months, sees no oak, and he only makes a couple hundred bottles. When we put our nose in the glass, it immediately took us to Meursault with an amazing flinty nose that I love in crisp whites, really stellar all around, especially given the price.

Godello is primarily grown in Northern Spain and shares some similarities to Chardonnay with some richer Albarino/Dry Riesling components thrown in. Here you have a special bottling by a tremendous winemaker which really showcases what this varietal can do.
....see, I'm already sad I didn't buy more.

Down the Godello rabbit hole I go......
