  • PnD let air for 1hr.

    Clear deep purple.

Clean. Medium(+) intensity with aroma of cassis cedar thyme blackberries and coffee.

Dry. Medium(+) acidity. Medium(+) tannins. Medium alcohol. Medium body. Medium intensity with flavours of cassis thyme pomegranate and bitter chocolate. Think there is a lot of CF in the blend.

Medium finish. Good drink now. Not suitable for more than five years ageing. Classic bistro BDX needs steak frites with peppercorn sauce.

  • Fruit Day - quick evaluation of the 2020 Bdx release at a reasonable price. Pours dark purple/garnet into the glass. Nose is graphite, cedar, black fruit and some herbs. On the palate the fruit is very present on the pop and pour with medium tannins and medium acidity. Due to the fruit it’s actually fairly drinkable just by itself. With time some complexity starts to show and it shows its Old World roots. Turns a bit more stemmy and herbal as more air gets to it. Suspect that in a couple of years the stemmy character will evolve into savoury. Agreeable now but will benefit with a couple of years of development. A good entry level Bordeaux.

2nd Day - Fruit Day. The fruit has come forward on the palate with the herbs and graphite still showing. It’s quite smooth on the palate today even though the acidity and tannins are evident. More acidity showing than yesterday but the tannins are still medium and ripe. It has gone in the direction I suspected it might. This is worth buying and having in the cellar. It will develop well for 3-5 years. Bumping points to 89 from 88 due to the positive change.
