A private lunch (Restaurant Le Soufflot, Meursault, France): From a plot of vines of 0.38 hectares owned by Domaine Martenot-Mallard. Bottle No. 557 from 889 produced. Beautifully layered sweet and ripe orchard fruit with a tropical edge, lift from subtle aromatic Asian spices (kurkuma) and green herbs, wonderfully harmonious and flowing palate, perfect weight (13.5% ABV), seamless and silky, elegant and remarkably light on its feet, just visible oak, dreamy finish with lemon curd. Incredibly moreish, to swoon in. Definitely worth the price of admission - if you can get it.
