14.5% ABV; 100% Merenzao; 12 months spent in French barrique; £41 Fresh with drying tannins it was rich in plum fruit seasoned with pepper and backed up by some pleasing tannins. Smooth textured with a warm peppery finish it had some pleasing acidity but there was evidence of VA. I wouldn’t hang onto this wine for too long though, as I don’t feel it would improve from hereon out. CHP 87pts

At first the whole cluster character dominates, 30 min later, Barolo is a great comparison. Rose petal, astringent tannins, VA, no oak, strawberry
