Community Tasting Notes (5) Avg Score: 92.7 points

  • Quick decant. Floral, high toned nose, quite giving. Palate has present but manageable tannin, good concentration and length. A little oak sticks out on day one. Really enjoyed this but will hold the other bottle for five years.

  • Method: 1 hour decant; lightly chilled; Cab glass

    Look: deep- ruby

Nose: violet, blueberry, undertone of bacon fat, faint bay leaf; complex nose

Palate: raspberry, bit of beef jerky; long- finish peppered beef jerky, bay leaf, leather; dry; medium+ body; medium+ to high- chewy and drying tannins (they aren't a ton in one sip be accumulate a lot); high- acidity

Overall thoughts: Showing very young, but great. Complex nose and finish, with a great mix of fruit, savory meat, and dried herbs. The acidity is higher and keeps this energetic. There's a lot of stuffing here and I suspect I'll love it even more once the tannins integrate in several years. Great wine!

Update: Even better on day 2 when the tannins eased up and the meaty note was elevated.

  • Nose: blackberries, bacon fat, violet, evergreen, mint, cedar; really beautiful and expressive

Palate: blackberry, smoked meat, evergreen, not as expressive as the nose; finish of leather, blackberry; med body, elegant; high - & bright acidity; a lot of chalky tannins

Overall: love the elegance, the nose is great but it could use more age as the tannins are a lot right now and could use time to mellow out. 92 right now but I think it’ll go up a lot for me in a few years.

  • Decanted for an hour, back to bottle for 4, then followed for another 3-4h. 12.8 ABV.

Gorgeous nose of red fruits and violet florals. Palate has gorgeous cool climate mixed berry underpinned by violets and lilac, can tell there is savory down there too. Elegant and ethereal. Medium-light and floral in style. Plenty of pure fruit and power but so balanced. Structure is pretty large for Syrah and finish is very long. 94+, should’ve bought a case. Cellar for 10-15 years no problem.

  • First time having the producer. I’d heard excellent things about the Cabs (and I look forward to trying those in the future), but only this Syrah was available by the time I was able to log in. There is a somewhat strong oak/vanilla note on the nose. Berry notes on the palate. This does not wow me at present, but it’s well made and some age should make it more interesting.
