Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Screwcap. Medium to darkish ruby core, with a bricking fringe. Weedy nose to begin, but this vegetal note lifts to show some decently ripe red berry - with a hint of Christmas cake later on - and a faint note of oak. Proper malbec. Responds positively to air, losing the obvious commercial style it showed on opening. Starts with a lightish-medium body, but adds weight to become medium bodied. Mature. Ripe, simple, but with good depth and refreshing acidity. Very quaffable and good plus once the oxygen has interacted with it. On promotion in Rīga at the largest outlet-type retailer at €3.99. There is very good value here at that price and it is a worthy cellar defender for those, like me, who wish to limit their defensive line to no more than double that amount per unit. Judging by the back label and ancillary label, this is yet another wine sourced from the Scandinavians who didn't want it. Should drink well for at least another year.
