  • Wow...absolutely killer wine. This is a rarity...I believe one barrel was produced and I received a one-bottle allocation on the mailing list. Roy Piper is doing some really cool small batch (one-two barrels) wines...recommend everyone snag what they can. He just released a small lot Pinot Noir and has an upcoming Chard and Cab Franc that are not to be missed.

Roy's 2019 Greer Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic expression of the powerful yet elegant wines from this great site in Rutherford. It opens with an awesome aromatic display of crème de cassis, warm cherry tart, violets, menthol, and a pretty intense gravel minerality. On the palate, this medium-bodied giant has so much finesse...complex layers of red and blue fruits underpinned by firm, polished tannins. The incredible concentration and extract seem effortlessly balanced by vibrant acidity, leading to an incredible mineral-laced finish that goes on and on. Different in style than the Piper Moulds Vineyard cabs, this reminds me of a great left-bank Pauillac.

This should age incredibly well. Bravo!
