  Smooth, smooth smooth and still plenty of vibrant chocolatey fruit. Joy to drink.

  Pretty sure this wine has reached peak. The nose is spectacular and omnipresent across the room, with loads of spring flowers, red and black fruit, and cherry menthol notes. The palate is full, smooth, and silky into the finish. Poor Merlot, with the rap of a flabby ugly duckling, the varietal can't do anything to get out of its curse. All the better for me. I'll gladly drink up these hidden, single-vineyard gems that were made the right way 10 years ago as they are versatile, elegant, and flat out satisfying.

  Consistent with previous notes back in October. Drinking very well right now, much better than earlier this year. Still thick tannins on the finish but this no longer needs a decant. Nice, savory, streak along with dark fruit, with good oak integration into the finish.

  Very nice funk and wet earth on the nose and developing secondary notes of dark, ripe cherries, leather, mushrooms, and dry herbs on the palate. Smooth, mature drinker in prime window right now.

  Last of three bottles we've had over the past few months. Overall, this doesn't seem to be as bright or delineated as a year ago, which really wowed us. However, unlike the 2006 which is at peak right now, this one is probably still ahead of its time and probably in a dumb phase. We decanted tonight for 1.5 hours before dinner and it definitely put on weight and nice cherry chocolate notes by the time we drank it. Paired nicely with chicken masala stir fry. Drink 2014-2018.
