Typical Otago pinot that flirts with being a dry red but manages to keep the varietal character. Opens with mushroom, stalk and leafy, plenty of cloves and spice over cherries and strawberry, chocolate hints and merest suggestion of mint. Builds through the palate for big fruit finish, silky structure and lively acidity and cocoa on the finish. Just seems a bit simple and straightforward.

Needs another year of cellar time but drinking nicely now with a little aeration. Very typical of quality pinot from the Central Otago
