  • Lovely musky rose and plum perfumed nose. Smooth, elegant, soft red strawberries, candied cherries and rose petals. Very well balanced, refreshingly cool and lovely wine. Alluring and seductive, wow.

  • Cooling-Off Day, Pre-Show Dinner (The Cathay Restaurant): 40% Cinsault, 30% Grenache, 15% Cab and 15% Mourvedre. What a surprise, this was a really good wine. Cinsault blend though it may be, it seemed to share more in common with a good super-Tuscan than say a Chateau Musar. It had a really nice nose, with spicy dark fruit nestled amongst deep aromas of earth, meat and leather. Nice, but it was the palate that really impressed. It was perfectly proportioned, with beautifully fine tannins and fresh acidity lending a lovely sense of balance to its delicious, but somehow still subtle flavours of dried grapes, blackberries and dark cherries. Quite impeccably put together I would say, with lots of polish and no lack of elegance to the way it wrapped itself around the mouth. There was a nice sense of focus and detailing as well, especially as the wine pulled seamlessly into a nice finish touched with some mineral and gunpowder notes. It may not been as quirky as a Musar, but there was a polished nobility here that seemed to be a nod towards the participation of the Brunier (Vieux Telegraphe) and Hebrard (Cheval-Blanc) families' part ownership of the property. This is certainly a wine to look out for in the future. While drinking well now, it will certainly improve with age.

  • Cool slightly funky umami with light tobacco leaves and cool fruit. Barnyard and musky fruits. Smooth and cool and balanced. Some spice and gunpowder on the finish.

  • Aromatic, black pepper, floral, cherry and garrigue nose. Med-full, well-balanced and spiced palate; good finish. Rather Chateauneuf-ish.
