  • Decanted 45 minutes. A massive wine. Intense nose of loamy clay, graphite, and iron, lipstick, concentrated black raspberry and red plum. A touch of heat on the palate adds to the energy and aggressiveness of this wine. It's awesome. Drink now-2020.

  • Winebow with Gianfranco D'Aniello and Angela Maculan; 9/11/2008-9/12/2008 (Crow's Nest and Orso): 95+. Hands down one of the best, if not THE best Merlot I've ever tasted. Very spicy nose is the first thing I get with black cherry, but not quite as ripe as the Fratta. A bit more earthiness, rusticity on the nose as well. More complex, not as new world of a nose with the ripe fruit. The palate is amazing! Unctuous and rich with spicy black cherries, currants, and tobacco. Ultra soft palate with a velvetiness that is unsurpassed. Still has a tannin structure, but they are sweet and mellow. Oak is well balanced, acid seems to have just enough. At this point, I dont' even care what Redigaffi tastes like, I have found Crosara!!

  • Angela Maculan pours her wines: This is on the list of the best merlot's I've ever tasted. And I never even heard of this wine until a week ago. At first, the nose is more muted then the Fratta. But unquestionably, this wine is richer and denser. Unbelievably soft and lush for a wine containing so much power. There is a touch of heat on the finish of the first sip, but it disapears. On the second sip, I'm completely sucked in by the gorgeousness of this wine. Layers upon layers of fruit, and some earthiness, and then a little minerality, but then back to the silky fruit. Delicious. Totally new world in style. If picking where this came from, I could do nothing better but blindly guess, although I probably would have gone right bank. And one of the better right bank wines, at that. 94-96
