Vinturi'd. Translucent ruby in the glass. Strong vegetal nose, like cooked greens, with cherry underneath. In the mouth, powerful, fresh flavors of cherry, spice, and some steel. Fairly full-bodied, with moderate acidity and mild tannins. Well-balanced, very long finish.

Nice wine, sits between a Merlot and a Cab. A bit vegital, but it blew off with some time open. I'd like to try other Carmeneres to see how it compares.

A soft and pleasant, if somewhat pedestrian, Carmenere, showing flavors of bing cherry, plum, and vanilla, with a somewhat vegetal (green) underpinning. Not as good as the delicious Concha Y Toro Casillero del Diablo Carmenere of the same vintage and price. Nevertheless, Anakena wines generally offer a high QPR, making them a good choice for large parties. Their dry, crisp Cabernet Rose is always a favorite.

Stinky vegetables on the nose, cigar box in the mouth, but not in a good way.
