  • Dark golden color. Clearly evolving but with a healthy, intense character and good weight, even if slightly oxidative. Drink up.

  • Medium golden. Aromas of apple and toasted almonds. A bit hot and spicy on the palate. Appears to be past its prime.

  • Tasted blind.
Med gold, med intensity of developed aroma. Red apple skin, apple, almond, biscuit, mineral. Dry med/+ alcohol, med/+ body, med/+ intensity on the palate, apple, almond, caramel, butter, cream, pungent spice, coconut.
Nutty on the finish and perhaps a bit on the down slide, but upfront the palate is all tuned up. 7years

  • Wine was tasted blind.

Appearance: clear medium + lemon, no legs, no color change at the rim.

Nose is medium with developed aromas of butterscotch, dried red apple, fig (there is a richness here) and marzipan. This smells like developed, big fruited warm climate Chardonnay. But I lead myself and I shouldn’t. White pepper. Vegetal. Celery. Coming up.

Palate is off dry close to dry but off dry with medium – acidity and medium + alcohol (? Or maybe just medium – I really am leading myself). Body is medium + (in this field of Chardonnay) with flavor intensity being medium. The flavors on the palate revolve around ripe, yet dried apple. Some citrus notes. Some sweet spice and white pepper. Wine has a fuller, richer texture – again, leading the conclusion of warmer climate fruit – yet I believe the finish to be just medium.

Conclusion: this is good, possibly very good wine. The finish is not long yet character is there. It was once very concentrated. Man, I am just scared of leading myself so I will type it:

Cali Chard, well done, aged. And aged nicely. In a good spot. Drink now.

  • This bottle was very deep amber in color - there was a slight oxidative quality, but it wasn't unpalatable, and the acidity was surprisingly lively given the appearance. Still, it was time to drink it up. 87-88 pts

2nd night - definitely gone down hill, very little life left. definitely not a bottle to cellar any longer.
