  • We ordered this one to pair with our mains at a well-known Spanish restaurant, sharing lamb and a paprika-rich monkfish stew. I was afraid that a full-bodied Mencia might overwhelm the latter, but no, despite the rich, dark ruby color, I was shocked by how much sharply tart red fruit there was. Sour sour cherry, pomegranate, red plum, some black fruits, a bit of funkiness, and a black olive that made me think Syrah. As good a Mencia as I've ever had.
