This wine is starting to show the signs of age; lighter in color than one would expect, while it still has some fruit left it has developed significant secondary and tertiary tones; the structure is simple and not particularly layered, with light body, particularly for a Gevrey. It's not a bad wine, but it dosen't do justice to the Ponsot name.

Reticent and awkward on night one, light red berries and animale character. Night 2 quite transformed with a strong cassis character. By day 4 still very much alive but more of an autumnal sous bois character. Overall relatively light bodied.

Double decanted in the AM. Drunk over several hours.
Red fruited with cherry, spice, and earthy notes in the background. This is a pretty and perfumed Gevrey. Midweighted on the palate with sap and excellent breadth for its size. Pretty youthful fruit red fruits and floral that are complimented by herbal, savory more so than ferrous meaty notes. Some basil, cooling green herbal notes on the back end. Outstanding. Early peak. 91

Elegant nose is dominated by red berries. Red currant, cranberry. Some soy, forest floor, meat, wild strawberry, plum and violet. Polished tannins and medium finish. Very very nice! But you have to like this bit naturalistic Ponsot style, sometimes volatile acidity is quiet visible. This one can be drunk or holded for don’t know how long. It looks like Ponsot wines are maturing slowly in some sense while being quiet approachable in a young age (this cuvée at least).

Initially subtle cherry liqueur on the nose shuts down after 10 minutes and remains very closed and reticent for the rest of the night. Lithe palate, initially shrill acidity which mellows with time, red fruits and spice but far from its true potential. Revisit in 10 years I’d say?
