  • Mini Forey study (Chicago, IL): This shows only some of the vintage character, and in particular, it is missing the distinct beetroot/geosmin note that I find so frequently in 2006 red Burgundy. On the other hand, there is more lightness here than the vintage would yield; it's got a really nice red-fruited tone and a light, acid-driven lift that is very attractive. On the other hand, this bottle is thinner than I would expect for a wine from this esteemed site. Maybe it's the (relatively) higher elevation?

  • Did I drink this too young, or too late?
This, I find is the constant refrain when opening the wines of Forey. Despite fifteen years of age, this bottle lacked fruit, though fortunately not overwhelmed with burning acidity. Opened, though not decanted, 45 minutes before, and in the glass for perhaps another 45 - never developed/ opened up.

    Rated 0 on a scale of -1 to +3.

  • initially the nose showed very clean pinot fruit but closed soon after. Also on day 2 this wine didn't give much. If you have any, keep anothe 15 years.
