Tasted blind. Charcoaled, curranty nose with some charred wood, fresh poblano, and alcohol. Not very giving aromatically. Some chocolate and mint on the palate is quickly overcome with plum skin and a terra cotta dryness. Tight, difficult to assess, seems like it probably need a long time to soften up - I thought it a coiled up left banker from a big year. Hmm, don't get any Merlot softness here at all.

Take this review with a grain of salt. The wine was purchase with dinner, hence the inflated price ($82). Probably something like a $35 bottle in the real world. My wife and I don't drink a great deal of Bordeaux, so I don't come to this area with a lot of experience.
All of that said, we really enjoyed the wine. It was dark red in color with more clarity toward the edges of the glass. It is certainly not a cali fruit bomb and went very nicely with the meal. It seemed well-integrated with no sharp tannins or alcohol edges. It was probably consumed far too young, but we were pleased enough with the experience that I decided to write a note this morning.

Peppery but a little faded - past it's best.
