Airy nose like a cool breeze in a rose garden some nice caramel added. Medium dark nebbiolo red not so much of a black core. Strong tannins balanced by enough acid. impeccable. Could become a favourite of mine within most Giacosas since rocche 09 And out of the void: a fruitfly pmet 9/10 This note refers to the first 20 min. At this moment 95+ To be continued... 4hrs later nose and palate have tightened up, aromatic profile stays the same. A reason why I don't prefer decanting without early tasting... rather pnp and retaste later on.
Still a favourite

Huge forward nose of raspberries, tar and roses of course. This was slightly longer and more balanced than the Falletto. Same structure but the tannin was much better balanced and wasn't as prominent on the finish. This also held up perfectly over a week. Amazing.

Classic Nebbiolo aromas with really delicious delicious red berries, roses, salts, espresso and fabulous exotic spices. Nice full bodied wine with very good mouthfeel. Spreads out nicely. Not masculine, but in an extremely delicate way. Nice freshness with fresher bright red berries, great salt minerality and hints of semi-fresh mushrooms. Fabulous finish with pretty salty nerve and exotic spice. Good tannins. Balanced and great wine.

Giacosa tasting at Knightsbridge Wine Shoppe (Northbrook, IL): Another of my favourite wines tonight. This is just flat-out brilliantly delicious stuff. Broader and heftier than the 2015 Rabaja, but retaining all the requisite structure and balance. The red cherry flavours here are ripe and sweet, but on the back end you get the acidity necessary to balance everything out. As an addendum, this whole lineup of 2015s has me pretty convinced that Giacosa has got its mojo back.

Bartolo Mascarello e Bruno Giacosa (Restaurant du Théâtre, Monthey): Nez plaisant, déjà ouvert pour le millésime, vin fruité, tannins assez souples, belle longueur, un beau vin
