Lovely fruit, earthy and slight, not unpleasant bitterness on the finish. Notes of cherries and fresh thyme. Drinking nicely now, and will continue to evolve for 3-4 years.

Never really opened up and felt kind of hot and jammy upon opening, either this was never really good or its just in a closed stage. I suspect 3 years from now would be a good time to try one. 88-89pts

The Wines of Comte Armand and Benjamin Leroux (Beltramo's, Menlo Park): Lighter color with dark fruit and stony notes. Like the Auxey Duresses, a pleasantly sweet entry. Light and crisp with excellent soil tones and a pungent, licorice lozenge finish. I liked this more as it opened in the glass-good village wine.

(Comte Armand Volnay) Group's #5 (my #1) – 99 points; 2, 1, 4, 2 - bricking medium cherry red color with pale meniscus; floral, roses, tart raspberry, brett nose; tasty, delicate, roses, tart raspberry, balanced palate; medium-plus finish (easily picked it as a Burgundy ringer in this blind flight)

Bright cherry red. Red licorice, strawberry jam on the nose. Spicy with good clean fruit. Nicely balanced village wine. Drink 2011-2015.
