Two to three hour decant in wide base decanter. Minimal sediment. Dark ruby to the edge of a Zalto Bordeaux glass where it displays a thin meniscus. Has a significant oak component on the nose but still retains a ton of complex red fruit dominate flavors along with balancing acidity. Nice palate weight and great intensity without being heavy. Long finish. This is really a terrific example of "old school" Napa cab and has plenty of life left for well stored bottles. Best paired with full flavored beef. 94-95 pts.

Deep garnet. Notes of black cherry, sage, sandalwood, sapid current palate, blackberry, fine French oak, and and medium + body. In a great spot. Acquired from the winery on release, and held in same spot since. Really nice. Last bottle. Adieu '01s

Was expecting a little more here. Gave this half an hour decant and then consumed over 2 hours. The nose showed promise, still a lot of fruit and all the signs of a good aged wine. Also smelled a little of the eucalyptus a previous note pointed out. Tasting cherry, black fruit and licorice, too much licorice for my palate. Also a hint of vanilla in the finish. Somehow this did not come together for me, overall not as balanced as I was hoping for. Single bottle I bought recently, maybe it wasn’t stored right. I would say past its prime. 89 at best.

Holy cow. This is what great provenance can do for wine. Drinking stunningly beautifully, complete, and very very well made. Wine hasn't been moved since it arrived from a release offer. Elegant, pure, and now the baby fat has been shed and this is hitting its stride. I think it will drink well for another 5 years if it has been stored right for the time. Black fruited, black currant on the nose, and dark black cherry on the palate. Delicious. Cab. Served with a Cowboy Ribeye steak grilled over red oak. YES.

Still a delicious and beautifully made Cabernet at 19 years of age, but just a step slower than the extraordinary bottle I consumed on 10/16/15.
