  • Not mature per se, no leathery old-wine flavors (sadly). And not youthful like the 2019 Patagonian malbec it was paired with, just more integrated and a shade grayer to account for the almost-15 year age difference. Plummy dark fruit with sage and parsley plus, unfortunately, underneath everything else was also a layer of volatile acidity which I have zero tolerance for. My guests liked it, I didn't.

  • Fine nose with blackberries, some blackcurrants, liquorice, stony minerality, and some flowery notes. Medium bodied(+), various dark berries with good concentration of flavours, fine acidity, noticeable but well integrated tannins, aftertaste with dark berries, freshness and tannic bite. Balanced and fresh, drinks well but can definitely develop further, 90 pts.

Although there are no obvious developed notes, this wine has become much more accessible and integrated compared to its young self (and basically any young Cahors). For a "mid-range wine" that I bought quite cheaply back in 2008 (this was unfortunately the last bottle), it was surprisingly good, and displays admirable freshness and balance!

  • Nice french take on Malbec. Very dark and still youthful. Very tannic, somewhat rustic, but there's good fruit under there. Wish I had waited on this bottle another 5-10 years.
    Would buy again

  • P&P. Great nose, old textbook Bordeaux. The pallate has some bitterness and still some massive tannins. The wine performs well with some air. Wait for two years to drink my last bottle.

  • Finally opened my last bottle. Still very, very dark wine, no wonder it's called black wine. Nose not opulent, some cedarwood and tobacco, very faint dark fruit. Tannins largely smoothed out now, acidity still present. Cassis taste. Long long aftertaste, where tannins come back a bit. Should be great with the Vacherin Mont d'Or cheese I purchased today.
