Quintessential Chablis, with that austere, dull-golden look, feel, and taste. I spot lemon custard, almonds, and tons of steely acid (bordering on too much). The fruit mostly stands up to the minerals, though, and that rough balance in my book makes this one a QPR success (at $18). It's not easy-sipping stuff -- it's sort of vitriolic and cantankerous -- but a person needs that every now and then to break up the monotony of humdrum Calichards.
