  • Kept under condition 2 since september 2008 (see my profile). Color: dark ruby-purple with an orange rim. Nose: a bit of brett and some clear, mostly red fruit. Taste (with food): mostly red fruit, a bit of coffee, nice minerality. The acidity was a little bit dominating. Some deposit in the last glass. Especially at the second day the taste seemed rather influenced by fine, but “mute” tannins, which made the taste quite flat. Nevertheless a classic, nice mature medoc from a very good year. The best bottle of the three I’ve drunk and at its best now. I doubt whether this wine will befefit from further keeping. First day 87(-88), at the second with other food 86.

  • Color: dark ruby-purple. Not much of a nose. Taste: quite closed, with red and black berries and good minerals and acidity. At the third day the nose was quite attractive. The taste was more open, with a nice concentration of dark and red fruit. No depth, no complexity. 13,5% alcohol, which tasted a bit burning. To keep for one or two more years. 86(-87).

  • Good wholesome approachability... a little fwd, but hot as much as others on my list. Reasonably balanced, not complex. Adequate concentration.

Nose: A pleasant mixed berry chutney (stwberry, blueberry, faint herb), garden soil. Aggressive spins bring out candy floss aromas.

Palate: Opens up into dark cherry, brandy types of flavours. Some oaky "vanilla", sweet smoke background notes.

At times succulent - works best with grilled meats. Try it while it lasts!

  • Kept under condition 2 since september 2008 (see my profile). Color: purple with a ruby hint. Nose: some nice, pure fruit with some barnyard. Taste: some pure and rich red and black fruit, some forest floor. Also some tannins, that still were a little bit harsh. This wine is developing well, but still needs more time to soften and to open up. With 13,5% alcohol a bit burning. Once more I conclude, that 2005 Medoc needs a lot of time. For now 85-86, with potential for more.

  • Popped and poured over 2 hours with hanger steak dinner. Great introduction to Bordeaux and exciting to drink.

Nose- Moderately intense nose consisting of a mixture of red fruits, cassis, fig and some dark fruit notes, some smoky oak, crushed rocks, forest floor, eucalyptus notes.

Palate- On the lighter side of a medium body. Good acidity. Chalky tannins give it a smooth velvety mouth feel. Lots of pure plum & cassis, some fig and morello cherry flavours with a moderate mineral-tinged finish. Some herbal as wells as rocky mineral character. Developed a noticeable iron character in the finish later on.

    Great with food.
