  • Opened and drank two bottles over the last month, most recently a couple of days ago. Quite disappointing after enjoying previous bottles in recent years. Both bottles were flat, lacking in fruit intensity and varietal character and past their prime. The most recent bottle was opened 3 hrs before drinking and did develop a little more profile after a further couple of hours. Day two showed no improvement. From other reviews and my own experience, I suspect this wine hit a sweet spot in years 3-6.

  • Wonderfully balanced wine. Everything was in its right place. Strong fruit on the nose, but not overpowering. Same goes on the palate. Cherry, plum, blackberry, along with savory herbs, leather, mocha, coffee, and oak. Good finish, but was surprised to discover that such a smooth wine went slightly tart in the after taste. Went great with food - and was just too good to save any for a second day evaluation.

  • Decanted briefly, and enjoyed with grilled pork sausages and vegetables. Very reticent to reveal anything at first, it hit it's stride at about 1hr, with a great combination of dark fruit with a meaty / smoky edge and just a little spice. Moderate tannins and brilliant, crisp acidity to finish, so it cut a wide swath through the sausages.

  • This bottle was totally back on form, medium carmine with mahogany notes - gorgeous nose leaps out of the glass - berries, saddle leather, red and black fruit - nice just to smell - nuances like matchstick, herb - great palate notable for its elegance and balance, it caresses and entices, rather than hammering - the balance is impeccable and the finish is v good - nice cherry and berry fruit, integrated tannins - lovely stuff.

  • What can I say, this is likely the most consistently excellent bottle of Canadian wine we'e ever had - tonight had a luscious whack of peppermint and rosemary on the nose, spicy garrigue, even a fish note(?!), this is awesome, complex wine-Wow-5*/18.50/94
