  We've been sitting on this bottle for several years, so it was time to open it up. Very high alcohol on this one, 16.2%, so this was obviously going to be a BIG California Zin. Delivered exactly as advertised, and I think you could ask no more of this wine than what it provided. Extraordinary was a fair enough description, hence the unusually high score.

  Pure aromas of blackberry and forest floor characteristics. A massive wine on the palate. Huge flavors of blackberry and blueberry with a toasted oak overtone. Full bodied without being too jammy or too viscous. The heat (16.2%) does come through on the finish but the acidity does counteract that a little. Very well made and very enjoyable. ($38)
