  • Even better showing with more of a fruit presence and still all of the complexity and textural elements.
A complete wine, of Grand Cru quality, drinking at its peak

  • First of nine bottles.
About a 3 cm fill level with cork in reasonably good condition.
Not decanted as this was the "exploratory bottle".
The hue shows signs of aging as you would expect for a 36 year old Burgundy.
Still a nice level of fruit upon opening . Beautiful tertiary aromas open up as well: cloves, pepper, forest floor, A fairly light hue, which doesn't detract in any way.
Fairly rich texture with noticeable tannins still; gorgeous balance with no noticeable alcohol level and sufficient acidity. The finish is long and clean on the spicy, mushroom side.
This wine should not be decanted, but holds up nicely for several hours.
    Drink over next 5-10 years.
Clarification: nowhere on the label, does this wine state Premier Cru, just Cuvee Maurice-Drouhin.
