The first bottle of my 2006 White Burgundies that suggests that 2006 may be close to getting as good as the great 2002 vintage. Light yellow, vibrant aromas of honeysuckle and lemon. Enters the mouth with penetrating acidity, excellent concentration, and rich texture. Overall, seriously superb and delicious.

Very penetrating flavors in the nose and mouth. The strongest fruit is lemon, book ended by ginger and a light butter. The feel is soothing, with no alcoholic heat or lighter fluid dryness. Verget’s white Burgundies easily improve for at least a decade, without any browning, oxidation, or butterscotch. Oak is a subtle background brushstroke of vanilla and cream with no clove or smoke. Goes beautifully with most foods, such as red Camargue rice from the Rhone River delta served with Norwegian salmon.
